The 67th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) is celebrated today (02) and General Secretary of the Party Prof. Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa stated that several religious events are organized to mark the occasion.
Dissident SLFP group aka Group of 16 yesterday acknowledged that its efforts to convince President Maithripala Sirisena to quit the Unity Government had been futile so far.
Addressing the media at former Deputy Speaker and National List MP Tilanga Sumathipala’s, residence at Ananda Rajakaruna Mawatha, Punchi Borella, SLFP Vice President Dilan Perera said that their group had officially requested the party to quit the government without further delay.The National List MP was flanked by Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena (National List) and Gampaha District MP Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle.
