Wariyapola girl's case is over

Do you recall the incident that took place at the Wariyapola Bus Stand in 2014 that led to much controversy?

The girl from Wariyapola who was seen in this video that went viral on Social Media, attended a media briefing on Tuesday September 8.

It was revealed that after the case was taken up the male youth in the video was sentenced to six months of rigorous imprisonment.. In addition, court ordered him to pay a sum of Rs.50,000 to the girl, Thilini Amalka.

A Fundamental Rights Petition was also filed at the Supreme Court against the Wariyapola Police over this incident. News 1st contacted Police Media Spokesperson ASP Ruwan Gunasekera in this regard.

He said that as the offender pleaded guilty before court he was handed down a sentence. As it was a legal procedure, the Police Media Spokesperson refused to comment further on the incident.
