The CID states four suspects of Rugby player Thajudeen’s murder have been identified. Three among them are members of Presidential Security Division and the other is a Sri Lankan staying in London at present. A senior officer of the CID involved in the investigation said the statements that suspects connected with Thajudeen’s murder had fled to Italy are false.
He said the three members of Presidential Security Division who are suspects of this incident are in Sri Lanka, the CID is vigilant about them and he believed that the three of them would be arrested within the next two weeks.
The person staying in the UK has been assisted by a former official of a diplomatic mission to flee the country and investigations are being carried out regarding certain wrongdoings of this official as well said the CID officer.
Investigations carried out so far have revealed that there hadn’t been any accident where Thajudeen’s car and his body were found. It has also been revealed that despite the front of the car was burnt the fuel tank had been more than half full. Thajudeen’s body had been on the passenger seat and when the place was inspected there were no evidence to show that there had been an accident.
CID states investigations are being carried out to determine whether Narahenpita Police distorted facts when reporting the incident.
