The United National Party (UNP) says that it will disclose the names of nearly 100 politicians involved in the drugs trade, who are hoping to contest the next General Election.

Former Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake said that the decision to name the above politicians involved in the drugs trade had been taken during a meeting at Temple Trees attended by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, the Dangerous Drugs Control Board Chairman, and Defence Ministry officials.

The names of the above politicians have been obtained as a result of investigations conducted by the anti vice squad, Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID), the Criminal Investigations Division (CID), the Special Crimes Investigation branch at Police Headquarters, Colombo Crimes Division of the Police, and the Dangerous Drugs Control Board (DDCB).
